I have known and worked closely with Terry Delahunty over the past 10 years. First
in his capacity as Project Manager/Senior Site Executive for Curtain Bros (Qld)
Pty/Ltd’s Gold Project sites – Big Rush, Camel Creek and Golden Cup, and then in his
capacity as Acting General Manager/Senior Site Executive for Curtain Bros’ Mt Moss
Iron Ore Project.
My first impressions, which hold true today, are that he is truthful and honest to a rare degree, and has a passion for ‘mineral science’ which I share. Terry always remained calm, even when confronted by challenges that would overwhelm most others, and has always displayed good judgement. His communications skills, both written and vocal, and his good “people skills” enable him to develop excellent working relationships with all stakeholders, be they work colleagues, government regulators, neighbouring land owners, members of the broader community or senior mining industry executives. He assumes leadership roles with aplomb, and encourages teamwork which inspires those around him to participate to their optimum
capabilities. His work ethic rubs off on those around him.
During our shared experiences Terry has been handed responsibility to manage long
standing legacy issues at some project sites. By establishing and maintaining a
constructive working relationship with State regulators, he gained their confidence to
allow the implementation of numerous novel trials, using “technologies” of his own
design, to redress these issues. These successes, along with his achievements at Mt
Edgerton in Victoria, clearly demonstrate that he is not constrained by conventional
approaches and has a proven track record of coming up with new, novel solutions,
which are the product of his interests and effort to keep abreast with developing
technologies.
